Beautification CommitteeThe Beautification Committee of the Chamber of Commerce is charged with improving the appearance and attractiveness of the community. The committee works with the City Council to implement projects which benefit the citizens of Prescott by providing a cleaner, more attractive place to live and work. Past projects of the Beautification Committee include flower and plant beds throughout the city including several entryways into town; tree plantings along the railroad and in the cemetery; landscaping at the Depot Museum; land for the Sterling Square Park, sidewalks at Prescott High School; a brick "Welcome to Prescott-Nevada County" sign; paving parking spaces downtown; new lighting and banners; new signs for the Nevada County Depot Museum; new sign for the Nevada County Fairgrounds and a brick marquee sign that allows community messages to be displayed at the corner of Main Street and West First Street. The most recently completed project of the Beautification Committee is the mural. The mural painted by Jorge and Maria Villegas illustrates scenes from Prescott and Nevada County that show how the past has impacted the present and future trends in our community. Look below for images of the specific sections of the mural. The Sterling Square Park includes landscaping, brick sidewalks, benches, a clock and a fountain. Parking spaces are provided to enable both citizens and visitors to the area to enjoy the park and the mural.
